I have admired Marfy patterns for a number of years, and even have 2 of their Annual catalogues as well as completing one garment but this was with the assistance of a sewing teacher being beside me as Marfy patterns have no sewing instructions.
Then late last year I found the free Marfy patterns that you can download to print at home. I just love this suit.
You do need to register or sign in to your account to get the downloads, but that is only your email address and you never know you may want to order a pattern or two!
Then during the final days of the Little French Jacket sew along (I am still going to make mine) Leisa from A Challenging Sew posted that she was going to hold a Marfy Free patterns sew along. This decision was made after Leisa had received a number of emails asking her to show how to make the various Marfy patterns that she had constructed during last year. With the free Marfy patterns available the sew along makes it perfect as everyone has the same pattern to work from.
So you know what is next don’t you, I am sewing along and this will very likely be my 2nd 3-pac for SWAP 2014.
Here is my fabric, navy wool which was purchased from the Fabric Cave when my sister and I visited it last year before they moved to their new location at 112 Bowden Street, Meadowbank. The crinkle georgette silk is from Tessuti purchased last Saturday specifically for the blouse or I have some tobacco silk crepe de chine that would work for the top as well as the lining for the jacket, now that is a thought!
Is anyone else going to sew along?

I downloaded the patterns a couple weeks ago. I really like the jacket and top. I don't wear many skirts. I will not be doing the sew along, but I love our fabrics and will enjoy following your sew along adventure.

I love the georgette fabric. And this pattern seems so totally you! Sad to say more sewalongs just won't fit into my calendar! I look forward to watching from afar! Cheers, Karen

I really want to make the blouse but with sleeves. I'm not sure if I'll get it done during the sew along or a bit afterwards. Your fabrics are beautiful and I can't wait to see them made up.

I didn't realise Marfy now had free pattern downloads. The pattern you have chosen it is lovely – I think it is nice to have an elegant little suit in the wardrobe – it can always be spilt into separates.

It's going to look stunning, I really like the fabric you've chosen for the top. I've admired many Marfy patterns but the lack of instructions have always put me off.

The crinkle silk chiffon will look fantastic in that Marfy blouse, can't wait to see the finished outfit. I don't have enough patience for a sew a long unfortunately!

That is a lovely suit and your fabric choices look great. I won't be sewing along as I have no need for suits in my lifestyle, but will enjoy watching your progress.

Yes, I will be sewing along. I have printed out the blouse pattern already. I made a Marfy skirt way back and have muslined (but not completed) a shirt and jacket. I found them to be too big, I am smaller than their smallest size. I think I know enough now to be able to petite them. The blouse should be fine as it is not fitted and the skirt easy to adjust if need be. Hmm, better go peruse the stash for likely candidates.

That is a very pretty little suit Sharon and I know you will do it justice. I'll be joining the cheering squad as I don't have any need for suits these days. Good luck.

I REALLY want to do this but, like Gabrielle, am terrible at sew-a-longs. Boo hoo! I'll be sitting next to Gabrielle…Good luck and can't wait to see how yours turns out!

I was tempted when I saw this on Leisa's blog – but I have to be realistic, I'm terrible at sewalongs! I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines Sharon :).
